"LOVE ETERNAL" - St John's Church, Sat 2nd August 2014

On Saturday 2nd August at 2.00 pm I had the privilege of attending the Whangarei Choral Society concert entitled "Love Eternal" at the St Johns Church, in Kensington. The Conductor was Nicholas Grew, accompanied by Cathy Teinaki on piano and Special Guest Clelland Reynolds accompanied by Atsuko Fukuoka. Here are some photos of the occasion....
 After a brief introduction conductor
Nicolas Grew ready's the choir to sing.
Nicholas Grew is the  local Music Director of the
Whangarei Girls High School and carefully
selected the pieces of music the choir sung for us.
He was not distracted by his delightful
daughters' pursuits to be picked up.
Clelland Reynolds preparing to play one
of his solo flute pieces for the audience.
Catching Clelland Reynolds as he leaves the stage.
Every member is special and treasured by the Choral Society.
The Alto singers...
and the Tenors...
...and Sopranos and Basses.
 My Mum *heart*
At the completion of the concert Nicholas
was congratulated and thanked by the
Choral Society President, Trish Fawkes.
Pianist, Cathy Teinaki receives a gift of appreciation
along with Clelland Reynolds and Atsuko Fukuoka.
As always, the Choral Society put on a wonderful concert.
Thanks to all those in the audience who attended!

 Enter, Nigel Harrison, the conductor
This is Nigel Harrison's last concert with Northland Sinfonia and Whangarei Choral Society.
He and his wife, Caron (and Choral Society alto singer) are returning to the U.K.
He shared with the audience a little about his time spent here in Northland, not only as Conductor for the Sinfonia but also as a Cardiologist at Whangarei Base Hospital. He will be missed by many people.
Iain Tetley, Baritone soloist had a beautiful rich voice with clear dictation.
Emma Couper, the soprano soloist, sung beautifully too.
What a brilliant concert...well done everybody!
Thank you to Nigel Harrison for all his enthusiasm, energy and expertise with both the Whangarei Choral Society and Northland Sinfonia. You will be very much missed!
